How can pain and suffering be used to foster spiritual growth? The experience of life brings us joy and sorrow. While most of us readily embrace joy, we tend to regard sorrow as a mistake, as something that should not have its place in life. The Theosophical tradition, however, postulates that pain can become a blessing in disguise if we understand it properly and learn how to relate to it in a spiritual way.
Each month the group will reflect on the selected video. During the meeting specific quotes will be shared and discussed. In addition, the facilitators will share information about how various traditions understand pain. Participants are encouraged to watch the video before each meeting.

Facilitators
Susanne Hoepfl-Wellenhofer is the Eastern Board of Directors of the TSA and current president of the D.C. Lodge. She is an active contributor to the Online School of Theosophy and the Theosophy Wiki, and is a mentor in the TSA Prison Mentorship Program. Lejla Ćatović is a multinational polyglot from Bosnia. She holds a creative writing degree and a Death Doula certification. Lejla has facilitated meditations, led women's groups, and practiced yoga for over 10 years. She is a member of the NY and DC lodges, and has published an essay titled “On Theosophy” in the Encyclopedia of Radical Helping.
